RADAN’s Role In Industry 4.0

RADAN’s reseller in Germany, 3D Concepts GmbH, is holding a special Open House event to demonstrate the important role that the world’s most powerful sheet metal CAD/CAM software is playing in Industry 4.0.

Dubbed the fourth industrial revolution, Industry 4.0 is the global name for the current trend of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies, to create “smart factories.”

To be held at the Technische Akademie Esslingen on November 29 and 30, the ‘Manufacturing and Forming Technology – Industry 4.0’ event is aimed at managers and skilled workers from companies with manufacturing and forming technology.

3D Concepts’ Sales Manager Thomas Menholz says their two day event in November includes looking at what he calls: “The modern process chain in the sheet metal industry on the basis of 3D CAD data within RADAN.”

His presentation will focus on how RADAN’s new logistics suite can assist in providing quick and accurate quotations and order processing, how development and construction departments can undertake technical feasibility studies using RADAN 3D and Radbend, offline pressbrake programming and simulation, and eliminating errors in the combination of cutting and bending using the full RADAN CAD/CAM solution.

In total, eight presentations from different specialists across a range of industrial disciplines will cover a variety of topics, including overall goals of Industry 4.0 and implementing it in five steps – including in existing production departments – shop floor optimisation, integration of the machine control to the ‘internet of things,’ and how digital technology can be used to make additional savings along with quick and reasonable decisions.

One of the keynote speakers is Dr.-Ing. Eugen Bendeich, from the Esslingen Technical Academy, who will look at the requirements needed for Industry 4.0, especially in control centres and manufacturing execution systems, along with the basics for converting companies to the Industry 4.0 vision.

Other speakers (and just one of the topics each will cover) include:
•    Dr.-Ing Jörg Stahlmann, from ConSenses – sensory monitoring and automation
•    Roland Bott, from TRsystems – record, evaluate and document relevant shop floor data
•    Bernhard Rohe, from ViewSystems – identification of unstable processes
•    Dipl.-Ing Wolfgang Wiedenmann, from Andritz Kaiser – how additional digital change will affect press brakes in the next few years
•    Dr.-Ing Thomas Terzyk, from Prokos Produktions-Kontroll-System – networking, simulation and monitoring in die design and process
•    Michael Möller MBA, from Datacomp – digitalization with Manufacturing Execution Systems.
